The last of the major postings is Orthopaedics. After this, we can't use the excuse, "Oh, tak blaja lagi."
It's 8 weeks long - the first week is forbrainwashing from all the bad memories of Psychiatry lectures; the next 6 weeks are to be spent looking at sad faces with fractures at the hospital; the last, for exams. God willing, with our own dedicated specialist/co-ordinator, this posting will run smoothly.
At Ampang Hospital, it'll be the same wards that we first stepped into (the hospital shares the same wards for Surgery, Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology); the same cute nurses we meet; the same DFU aroma we inhale; and the same, boring routines.
The only differences this time around are the presence of house officers and *sigh* the presence of my mom...

you might not remember this, but as a 3, 4 yr old, you wanted to be a 'bone doctor'. those were the days when your mom and dad worked in a 'hopistal' and your beloved (*wink*) maksu was the trusted baby-sitter during school holidays. As she was such a 'big bully' (your words then, not mine), you put on a pair of 'toskin' as gloves, pretended to be a doctor and told her that "one day, when I'm a bone doctor, and you break your leg, you can come to the 'hopistal' to see me, and I will break your leg some more..."
